Services for members at risk

Mental health, physical health and financial burden are just a few factors that can put a member at risk. Other factors include language barriers, domestic violence, Covid-19, natural disasters and crises. At legalsuper, we are ready to do everything we can to support members at risk.

Mental health resources

Lifeline – 13 11 14

Lifeline provides crisis support and suicide prevention services to anyone experiencing a personal crisis. You can call Lifeline on 13 11 14 at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lifeline also provides an online Crisis Support Chat between 7pm and 12am midnight (AEDT), 7 days a week. Lifeline is currently trialling Lifeline Text, which is the same compassionate, non-judgmental support delivered via text message. You can access this service by texting 0477 13 11 14 between 6pm and 10pm (AEDT), 7 days a week.

Beyond Blue – 1300 22 4636

Beyond Blue provides support to anyone experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, or going through a tough time, and can point you to further information and services. You can call Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Beyond Blue provides an online chat between 3pm and 12am midnight (AEST), 7 days a week. There are also options to email, or to join online community forums.

Domestic violence resources

Hearing disability resources

Members with hearing disabilities can use the services of the National Relay Service (NRS):

  1. A call through the NRS lets you communicate with a hearing person who is using a phone even if you can't hear or don't use your voice.
  2. The NRS has specially trained staff called Relay Officers who help with every call.
  3. Depending on the type of call, a Relay Officer will change voice to text or text to voice and AUSLAN to English or English to AUSLAN.
  4. Relay officers stay on the line throughout each call to help it go smoothly, but don't change or get in the way of what is being said.
  5. Except for calls made through Video Relay, the NRS is available 24 Hours a day, every day.
  6. Depending on your hearing and speech, and equipment you have, you can choose from one or more relay call types.

Language assistance resources

We can assist members from a non-English speaking backgrounds by connecting them to the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National). The interpreter service is available between 8am and 8pm (AEST/AEDT), Monday to Friday.
  1. Call our Client Service Centre on 1800 060 312 and ask to speak to an interpreter.  
  2. The legalsuper consultant will connect to the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS). 
  3. Ensure you have your legalsuper membership details on hand. 
  4. Once we’ve confirmed your identity, the legalsuper consultant will communicate information about your account via the interpreter in your nominated language.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples can often face challenges in accessing services and this is true for many reasons, including living in remote areas. If you are seeking support, opportunities or general help – the below links may be able to support you.
