Helpful resources for employees
Congratulations on getting your new job! Your career might change, but our commitment to your future won't. You can stay with us even if you work outside the legal profession. We’ve provided some helpful resources here, to help you navigate super when you start your new role.
Know your options
It is important to realise that if you don't provide your new employer with your own super details, they'll pay your super into your most recent or active super account. It's good to know your options, do your research and ensure your retirement money is headed in the right direction.
Top 4 tips when starting a new job
- Check your recent contributions have been paid – ensure that your previous employer has paid your final contributions.
- Review your existing super fund(s) - decide if your current fund is the best fund for you. Alternatively, you can arrange for your superannuation to be paid into a legalsuper account. Simply complete this Superannuation Choice Form and your employer can start paying your super into legalsuper.
- Review your insurance – make sure you are adequately insured. If you decide to open a legalsuper account, you will receive a Welcome Pack. In the pack you will find everything you need to know to get started with basic (default) insurance cover or apply for additional insurance cover.
- Consolidate your super funds – you may be paying multiple fees if you are with multiple funds, so it’s a good idea to consolidate. Read more about consolidation here.
Important numbers
Here are some need-to-know numbers which your new employer might ask for:
Fund name: legalsuper
Fund ABN: 60 346 078 879
Fund address: legalsuper, locked bag, 5081, Parramatta, NSW 2124
Fund phone: 1800 060 312
Unique Superannuation Identifier (USI): LIS0100AU
There is no obligation for you to have a legalsuper account, however being in a fund that is invested in the legal community and works alongside Australia’s law institutions, could be a great fit.
Further assistance
A member of the legalsuper team is always available to arrange a free/no obligation 30-minute personalised meeting with you, to make sure you are on the road to the best possible financial outcome in retirement.
If you require more in-depth information, you can speak to one of our Client Service Managers who can help you get set-up with legalsuper, discuss your superannuation needs and provide you with general advice about superannuation. They can meet with you face-to-face at your office, an agreed location, online or over the phone.
