About the DIO
Direct Investments lets you choose how your money is invested – giving you more control, visibility and choice in your super and pension investments. You can buy and sell investments, track your performance, and access comprehensive market research.
This is an investment option for people who want to be actively involved in managing their super and pension. Or, those who might be seeking a low-cost SMSF-style alternative.
Members have the flexibility to invest in:
- Shares that are included in the S&P/ASX300 Index;
- Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs);
- Listed Investment Companies (LICs); and/or
- Term Deposits.

- Explore the platform and obtain research information at no cost as a Free Access User
- Extensive range of permitted investments
- Extensive reporting (including tax reporting) and investment tools
- Attractive fee and brokerage structure; and
- Super members commencing a legalsuper pension may be able to transfer an existing DIO account from super to pension without having to first sell their investments.
Establishing and managing your DIO is straightforward
- Login to MemberAccess
- Click on the 'Investments' tab
- Click on 'Direct Investments'
- Join as a Free Access or Full Access user
- Once you've joined and created a Direct Investments account, you can explore the platform. If you've signed up as a Full Access user, you can transfer funds to start trading.
Fees
When you first login, you can select which DIO package is suitable for you:
Allows you to use platform features, tools and resources such as market data provided by Morningstar and research by UBS without incurring fees or transferring funds from your legalsuper investment option(s).
However, you won’t be able to trade securities, purchase Term Deposits or hold a DIO Cash account. If you choose to establish an account as a Free Access User, you will not be charged additional fees on top of the normal fees and costs of your legalsuper account.
All of the benefits of the ‘Free Access’ package plus trading on the available securities on the S&P/ASX300 Index, ETFs, LICs and Term Deposits and maintain a DIO Cash account.
If you choose to establish an account as a Full Access User, you will be charged additional fees, on top of the normal fees and costs of your legalsuper account. The fees include a DIO Account fee of $20 per month ($240 per year), and 0.40% of your DIO Cash Account balance. Brokerage may apply too.
